Slatina sequoia, i.e. Mamutovac in Slatina, is the only protected specimen of this species in Croatia and among the oldest in Europe, and has been protected as a natural monument since 1967 and is in the Register of Protected Natural Values. With its imposingness, it represents a real visual attraction, and is home or a casual place for various birds that create an idyllic singing atmosphere in the new tourist center EPIcentar Sequoia Slatina.
Epicentar Sequoia Slatina, in addition to exotic plant species, contains other tourist elements – hostel, restaurant, conference halls, multimedia-interactive display, educational trail and children's playground. The center is part of the popular Noble Route of Virovitica-Podravina County, which includes a tour of the sites developed by the noble families Pejačević, Schaumburg-Lippe, Janković, Drašković and Mihalović.
Slatina sequoia was crowned with the prestigious title in the selection for the "Croatian Tree of the Year 2021" and successfully represented the Republic of Croatia at the competition "European Tree of the Year 2022".
